What is brdMaker ?
It´s a small and affordable desktop pick and place machine that puts the components on circuit boards at assembly phase. Typically these machines are used for surface mounted devices (SMD).
We designed brdMaker from scratch to handle modern prototype/small series PCB assembly needs.
The platform can be individually adapted to different requirements.
There is also some development going on with paste&glue dispensing toolhead and a 3D Printing Head.
Why brdMaker ?
Making advanced PCB boards by hand is nowadays almost impossible. You have to run against time before paste dries while placing hundreds of components almost at micrometer scale.
If you have done it manually, you may know why brdMaker was created.
The machine was designed from scratch to handle modern prototype/small series PCB assembly needs of serious makers, startups, hackerspaces and even home labs who needs to get a small series of assembled PCBs.
The Toolhead
The whole pnp toolhead is designed for quick automatic juki nozzle changing.
brdMaker can even replace the whole toolhead on the fly.(See Video here)
Our Pick and place toolhead is optimized for size and made compatible with quick connections.
Further more our magnetic nozzle holder is designed to enable automatic nozzle changing with very low run out.
Our Feeder
We combined the Controller and the mechanical assembly and integrated it inside our Feeders. So inside a Feeder are 2 motor drivers (+ Motors) , 4 buttons and 1 RGB led on top for status feedback.
The Feeders are connected with an I2C bus and can also be upgraded over I2C. They are organised into racks connected to the Backbone which defines a slot based address for every feeder.
